This is bigger than resumés.
We want to put a generation of young Indian inventors on the global innovation map.
Patomic Labs Private Limited is based in Bengaluru. We mentor students one at a time, from a field of interest to an invention worth protecting, and then we protect it.
Who is actually in the room
Our team is made up of engineers and intellectual property lawyers from IIT Kharagpur, with core R&D experience at global technology companies. The people who mentor the ideation also draft the specification and argue the prosecution.
What we bring is the complete R&D experience of a large company, condensed, structured, and made legible to a fifteen-year-old. Students here do not simulate innovation. They sit through real ideation, real technical decisions, and the real disappointment of finding their first idea already patented, and come out the other side with something new.

Who started this
Vishnuvardhan Murali
Co-Founder
Vishnu is a technology and innovation professional with experience spanning automotive R&D, manufacturing operations and intellectual property. A Mechanical Engineer and lawyer specialising in Intellectual Property Law from IIT Kharagpur, where he graduated as a batch topper, he brings together engineering thinking, industry experience and IP strategy.
Before founding Patomic Labs, Vishnu worked closely with R&D teams at TVS Motor Company across powertrain, electric mobility, vehicle engineering and software-integrated automotive systems, contributing to the development and protection of 140+ patents. Earlier, at HMT Machine Tools, he worked across manufacturing operations and corporate planning, gaining first-hand exposure to how engineering moves from the drawing board to the factory floor.
His work also includes helping deep-tech startups strengthen patent portfolios across construction, renewable energy and space-tech systems.
At Patomic Labs, Vishnu helps young innovators understand advanced technologies, identify real-world technology gaps, develop original inventions to address them, and push the state of the art forward.
Outside engineering, he is an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, a long-time gamer, and occasionally disappears into sketching manga art. His shelves range from The Three-Body Problem, Dune, and The Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, while his ever-dwindling gaming hours belong to Counter-Strike, Age of Empires and Prince of Persia.
“Technology, at its best, should make you curious enough to ask: what could this do better?”
Why are patents so rare among students?
Almost no school student in India holds a patent. There are two reasons, and neither is talent.
The idea
To invent anything patentable, a student has to:
- understand an industry;
- study how existing systems actually work;
- identify an unresolved engineering problem;
- develop a robust technical solution.
And the invention must be completely new, never seen anywhere in the world, and offer a non-obvious technical advancement over the existing state of the art.
The legal process
Securing a patent is a multi-year legal process:
- Drafting
- Filing
- Publishing
- Examination
- Written responses
- Hearing
- Patent grant
Costs rise at every stage: attorney work, statutory fees, legal strategy.
That’s where we step in.
Patomic Labs brings engineering capability and legal expertise into the same room.
The invention
We work one-on-one with each student to:
- explore an industry and its technologies;
- investigate existing products, research and real-world case studies;
- identify an unresolved engineering problem;
- develop an original technical solution from scratch, one that is novel and offers a real technical advancement.
The patent
We secure the patent for that invention, managing every legal stage:
- patent drafting and filing;
- early publication;
- written responses and prosecution;
- hearings;
- patent grant.
Every stage is included in the programme.
The global R&D experience, reimagined for students.
An industry-style R&D process
Structured the way a corporate research team works, then made accessible to a fifteen-year-old.
Real investigation first
Students examine actual technologies, existing solutions and failure modes before developing anything of their own.
Mentorship that pushes
We simplify advanced engineering concepts, ask the right guiding questions, and mentor each student towards a world-class invention.
We would like a patent to become the most ordinary extraordinary thing on a student’s profile.
As common as any other extracurricular, and far more meaningful. We do not build resumés here. We help students lead, create, and stand somewhere nobody else is standing.
From idea to invention: their stories
Sarayu Kamath
Grade 11, Benenden School, UK
Student inventor
Patomic Labs helped me come up with my invention idea from nothing and got the patent filed easily. Their engineering and patent team made the whole thing simple for a student like me. I now understand how real-world R&D works, and I have a tangible achievement that truly differentiates my profile.
Anubhav Jain
Product Designer, HDFC Bank
Patomic Labs didn’t just help us file — they became true innovation partners. Their structured ideation process uncovered design directions we hadn’t considered, strengthened the concept, and translated it into strong IP. They understand both deep-tech engineering and patent strategy, which is rare.
Kunal Naik
Co-founder, DeployNXT
They have an exceptional ability to simplify complex technology and turn ideas into well-defined inventions. Their mentorship, technical depth, and clear framework moved me from a vague concept to a patent-ready solution. Challenging, exciting, and rewarding.
